Research interests:
Physical sharing economy, crowdsourcing, online community, trust and context More broadly... My work is generally in the domain of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing. These work tend to involve some of the following: organizational psychology, decision-making, VR/AR, machine learning, NLP Research Methods: I am a mixed-methods researcher. I've done work using interview, survey and grounded theory method, or doing literature review on a certain topic, to conducting large-scale archival data analysis and designing field experiments. ![]()

I am a Computer Science Ph.D. student at University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I graduated with B.A. in Psychology and minor in Statistics from University of Minnesota in May 2016, and am currently working at GroupLens Research Lab, focusing on Human-Computer Interaction and Social Computing.
My research is mainly in HCI and Social Computing. I am interested in understanding user behavioral patterns to improve the user experience of current social computing systems, and design new computational tools that facilitate collaboration among peer users. I do research in online peer production systems such as Wikipedia, sharing economy systems such as Couchsurfing and Airbnb, and crowdsourcing systems such as Amazon Mechanical Turk. My current research interests include trust and bias in online sharing systems, misinformation in media, and building VR/AR systems for social good.
In addition to conducting empirical research, I also have developed prototypes of various web applications and mobile systems. Some of these involve extensive UI research and iterative prototyping, others are full stack working system. More info can be found in Fun Projects.
I was born and raised in Chengdu, China - the hometown of pandas. After graduating with honor from Chengdu Foreign Languages School, I was recommended to Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics without requiring entrance examination tests. After two years studying Linguistics in Beijing, I made her way across the Atlantic and majored in Psychology at University of Minnesota. I am now living at Minneapolis, MN, resolved to bring out the human side of technology. I enjoy traveling (20+ countries so far), photography, and playing badminton when I'm not writing papers.
